Healthful Decadence:
Indochine brings fulfillment and warmth to lunch bunch

Indochine Garden I love Indochine. Bottom line. While I could go on and on, for days on end, stating reason after reason as to why, I will refrain to only a few hundred words. After all, I am sure you have New Year’s plans.

Indochine Thai and Vietnamese Restaurant is where the encore lunch bunch ventured before Christmas. Usually when I go, I try my best to pick a time when I know their lush and tranquil outdoor garden will be open. However, Mother Nature had other plans for our December afternoon visit. It was breezy and cool, so we relegated ourselves to a six-top indoors, which by no stretch is a bad thing.

If you’re an avid reader of encore, you already know that Indochine takes top nods in our Best-Of poll annually. Last year, they reigned supreme is Best Asian and Best Atmosphere both dually deserved. While they serve the best in rich, decadent and healthy meals, it truly is the atmosphere that makes Indochine stand above and beyond most other eateries in town. Solange Thompson, owner and operator of the restaurant, has such a vast array of Asian antiques and art that the restaurant looks like a cross between a gallery, museum and shrine all in one. The only difference: The food is so intensely good, you crave it for days on end after a visit.

Gold buddhas and burning incense welcomed us as we arrived at our table. I immediately ordered ginger tea their tea is simply exquisite and a round of appetizers for everyone to enjoy. Chicken satay, Cha Gio and steamed dumplings rounded off the list, as our very friendly server, Summer, made her rounds on refills. Within minutes we were all indulging on our pre-meal goodies.
